It's hard to believe that it has been over three years since Crossroads purchased the land for its future 39-acre campus. We have been laboring diligently, under the leadership and grace of God, to be faithful and pay off the debt on this land before we launch into a major building program.
However ... we have recognized more and more the need for a better "connection" to this place that will be our future church home. A few weeks ago we launched out in faith and began construction of our new
Fellowship Pavilion on the land. It is located in the central grove of trees that will someday be
Crossroads Park. Upon completion, this structure will include a large stage for music events, lighting, electricity, and even a fireplace. We anticipate tremendous use of this pavilion, espeially as the future softball and soccer fields are completed.
We have many people to thank as this work progresses. Gary Hodge has provided leadership in the project and secured the trusses at a greatly reduced price. Allen Coleman led in the construction of the structure, including placing the poles and installing the metal roof. More recently, Crossroads newcomer Robin Woolard donated the concrete work and provided his construction company's work crew to complete the task. Other faithful laborers include Kevin Terrell, Jeff Hunter, Tony Dothsuk, and Ralph Stevens. I know that there are many others ... too numerous to mention. But we are thankful for the labor and the gift of time given by everyone involved in this important project.
We still have a lot of work to do to "get the job done." We are in the process of raising another $2,000 to complete the project. We will, hopefully, accumulate that sum through our church-wide soup/chili supper and silent suction on Sunday afternoon.
More details will be posted on that event tomorrow.
